Do you think that a cop should be held personally and financially liable for the costs of litigation in respect of an unlawful arrest?

Considering some of the the palookas they have in the police these days & the unlawful antics they get up to I say yes, they should be personally & financially liable even if financially only to a certain degree. Lets not forget the co-responsibility of the Minister & National Commissioner as co-respondents in a civil case.
I am not aware of a criminal charge one can bring against the offender. If there isn't there should be new legislation introduced. Maybe that would stop a lot of their gestapo tactics. This includes the traffic cops.
